Led Zeppelin IV (1992)
Digital Compact Cassette, Promo (Holland)

From the collection of Chris TDB

The Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) format was introduced in late 1992 through a joint development effort between Philips and Matsushita Electric, envisioned as the digital successor to the standard analog compact cassette.

Although most DCC releases are considered scarce today, this example represents an exceptionally rare promotional edition of Led Zeppelin IV (Atlantic – 7567-81528-5). Issued during the early rollout of the format, the cassette is distinctly marked with “Sample Not For Sale” and “This DCC is not yet according to the DCC Standard” stamped directly on the shell—indicating its pre-production or test-market status.

Promotional DCC tapes of this nature were produced in extremely limited quantities, making this a highly desirable and historically significant piece for collectors.
