Boxed Set
Poster (Japan)

From the collection of Scott Baker

This Japanese promotional mini-poster was produced by Atlantic/MMG to advertise the 1990 Japanese release of Led Zeppelin’s four-CD Boxed Set and the two-CD Remasters collection. The striking black, red, and white design features oversized “LED ZEPPELIN BEST ALBUM” lettering and a black-and-white photograph of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page performing.

The poster highlights the four-CD Boxed Set, featuring a deluxe color booklet, and lists the retail price as ¥10,000 with catalog number AMCY-170~173. The two-CD Remasters collection, catalog number AMCY-168~169, is promoted as a limited-production release priced at ¥4,800.

The large “11.10 緊急発売!” (“November 10 — Emergency Release!”) announcement is particularly interesting. Although the poster advertises November 10, the Japanese editions are documented with a November 15, 1990 release date, making the discrepancy an interesting detail in the promotional history of these releases.

It leads one to believe that this may have been the accompanying poster given away to customers in conjunction with the release. The photograph and overall design closely correspond with the imagery used in the advertising, making this a likely example of the customer giveaway poster.
