This is a 9 track banded white label promotional DJ radio sampler, pressed by Polydor in the UK in 1969 (Polydor pressed all Atlantic and Atco releases in the UK under license from 1966 until 1972. This record has the standard center shape format of Polydor releases, whilst the PRO reference was used by Polydor for promotional releases into the 1990s to promote a range of Atlantic and Atco artists. The labels are white with no official writing, markings or visual references, whilst the run-outs are “PRO 1 A//1” and “PRO 1 B//1”, so you have to take the time to play both sides of the record to establish that it contained Zep tracks, amongst other artists. The record contains spoken introductions and track samples for:
(A-side) Brian Auger and the Trinity, Dr. John / Aretha Franklin / Iron Butterfly / Wilson Pickett
(B-side) Albert King / Led Zeppelin (referred to as “The Led Zeppelin”) / Arthur Conley / Sam and Dave, Clarence Carter / “The Supergroups” including Cream, Iron Butterfly, the Bee Gees and Buffalo Springfield.
The following is a transcript of the Led Zeppelin section:
